Bri has been here for the last couple of days, which means extreme laughter and lots of catching up (it's been six months since we last saw each other and six months since we pretend harmonized to the Growing Pains song!!!) Needless to say, we've had lots of fun. And have made lots of jingles and inside jokes that go on for days. Mom was dead on on when she warned us: Girls. Be kind to Argentina.
In Buenos Aires, we did such fun things as: eat lots of steak, eat lots of alfajores, eat lots of empanadas, catch up on our lives month by month, drink lots of wine, talk to flirty and nice Central Americans who were impressed by Bri's Spanish, watch regular tango dancers mix and mingle at a Milonga, see a modern dance show at a pretty theatre, walk for miles every day as we explored the city, eat the best gnoccis of our lives, make jingles up about handsome, Argentine business men, watch the iconic Madres de la Plaza de Mayo protest, and check out two art museums. I like Buenos Aires. I forgot how much. Oh, and Bri also got a tango lesson from a tango dancer at our hostel!
Then we overnight-bussed it to Córdoba where we did such fun things as: attend a Scelso family asado, drink Fernet, reminisce about board game commercials from the '90s, see a cool old movie at a cool old theatre, stroll through the arts market, eat a yummy picada, get palms read by Marcelo, chat for hours over a ravioli lunch about Dublin, love, life and theater, gawk at Córdoba's big city Christmas tree, and make fun of Lucio.
So much wonderful activity. I'm so happy my last week on this trip is spent with one of my favorite people in the world getting to know some of my other favorite people in the world. And thanks to her presence, I'm now more eager than ever to see my friends and family in the states. Thanks for coming Bri, and I'm glad Argentina didn't explode. Yet.
